The Bruins vs the Kings at the Staple Center. After finding just the right parking space we went in to see the mighty B’s!

Bonehead move: There were 4 tickets to the game, not 2. Ooops.

And all the greats were there!

Oh well, we still had fun just the two of us. Go Bruins!

And What a game it turned out to be. Bruins led going into the third but the Kings came back to force an OT and Shootout. Good hitting, good hockey. But the Bruins looked a little flat. I attribute it to cross country miles, San Jose the night before. All the makings for a sluggish game. I’m thankful my daughter didn’t notice.

She did manage to get on the big screen…this was my best effort at photographing it.

The best part about the day (for me) was befriending some Canucks sitting next to us…turns out they were the Bruins’ trainer’s family…brother and Dad. I didn’t make that connection until after the game the Bruins’ trainer caught up to us outside and gave Kaiya the game winning (or ending) puck. She had no idea what it was. Only that it “was cold Daddy!”

Very cool day.

What a day! I was invited to play in Jack Wagner’s Celebrity Golf Charity Event to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

After checking in at work, my friend Alan and I made our way up the 405 through LA’s notorious morning traffic. I’m always excited to play golf and today was no exception. When we arrived at Valencia Country Club, I was practically jumping out of the the brand new golf shoes that I had purchased the day before. So you can only imagine how excited I got when “Holly” a beautiful twenty-something, came over with a Mimosa and asked what size shoes I wear so she could go fetch my brand new Adidas golf shoes! Sweet.

As I was lead over to the “reception area” to try on my shoes, I met Bruce Jenner and sat down next to Marcus Allen. Sweet. Bruce was really nice but his plastic surgery was kinda freakin me out. Marcus wasn’t very nice and later in the day, blatantly cut in front of me in the lunch buffet line. Whatever…I out drove him on the longest drive hole by twenty yards. Sucka.

So, anyway, Holly is back fetching me drinks and making sure my clubs are ready to go. She hands me my bag-o-shwag from Adidas and points my in direction of the driving range. I walk over and see many Hollywood-types. Actors, directors, etc that I recognized but didn’t know most of their names. I find some space down on the range and start getting into my groove.

I was hitting well and in my own world when a guy asks me if he can hit next to me. I say “Sure,” and look up to see the Great One. Wayne Gretzky. Read that again. Wayne Gretzky, the greatest hockey player to ever lace em up. And he’s asking if he can use some of my balls and hit next to me. Sweet. For the next 20 minutes we chatted about hockey and the playoffs. I asked him what happened to my Bruins last night as they had got blown out by Montreal in game 7. I never got another good shot off. At one point, I looked down and there was barely any grass left where I was hitting. I never considered myself to be star struck but Gretzky’s no ordinary star. It was pretty great to meet him. What a nice guy.

me & wayne:

I ended up getting paired with Joe Pesci. Sweet. He missed the first tee because he was on the phone and I figured it to be a long day with him, but he finally arrived. In the interim, I asked Al Michaels to join us for our picture on the first tee.

me & al:

Pesci’s a nice guy. Just the same way you picture him, only smaller. He told me I hit the ball great. And if I ever got my sh*t together, that I’d be dangerous. He loves race horses too.

me & joe (I’m on the left):

Overall it was quite a day.

The drive was always epic. Back roads and country bars. The tram…

Nowadays, Palm Springs means golf.

Mark., JB, Kleims and I were more than happy to meet some friends on their yearly jaunt to the west coast for a day of golfing at the PGA West Stadium course.

And taking money from Mark is always a bonus.

And Lance was there. Another bonus.

God asks Peyton Manning first: “What do you believe?”

Peyton thinks long and hard, looks God in the eye, and says, “I believe in hard work, and in staying true to family and friends. I believe in giving. I was lucky, but I always tried to do right by my fans.”

God can’t help but see the essential goodness of Manning, and offers him a seat to his left.

Then God turns to Tony Romo and says, “What do you believe?”

Tony says, “I believe passion, discipline, courage and honor are the fundamentals of life. I, too, have been lucky, but win or lose, I’ve al ways tried to be a true sportsman, both on and off the playing fields.”

God is greatly moved by Tony’s sincere eloquence, and he offers him a seat to his right.

Finally, God turns to Tom Brady: “And you, Tom, what do you believe?”

Tom replies, “I believe you’re in my seat.”

A man in Topeka , Kansas decided to write a book about Churches around the country. He started by flying to San Francisco and started working east from there.

Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes. He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall and was intrigued with a sign, which read “Calls: $10,000 a minute.”

Seeking out the pastor he asked about the phone and the sign. The pastor answered that this golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to heaven and if he pays the price he can talk directly to God.

The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way. As he continued to visit churches in Seattle , Dallas, St. Louis, Chicago, Milwaukee, and around the United States, he found more phones, with the same sign, and the same answer from each pastor.

Finally, he arrived in Massachusetts. Upon entering a church in Boston, MA .. ………Behold – he saw the usual golden telephone.
But THIS time, the sign read “Calls: .35 cents.”

Fascinated, he asked to talk to the pastor, “Reverend, I have been in cities all across the country and in each church I have found this golden telephone and have been told it is a direct line to Heaven and that I could talk to God, but in the other churches the cost was $10,000 a minute. Your sign reads only .35 cents a call. Why? Why?”

The pastor, smiling benignly, replied :
“Son, you’re in Boston, Massachusetts now, home of the Boston Red Sox, the Patriots, Celtics and Bruins!”
You’re in God’s Country, It’s a local call.
